Israel's Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s desire to seek peace agreements with the Palestinians and Syria. Netanyahu made the statements at the weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday.

Speaking at the outset of the weekly cabinet meeting, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu said Israel desires peace with all of is neighbors including Syria and the Palestinians. Says huge concessions will have to be made by Israel.

“We have done it with Egypt and Jordan and we can do it with Syria and the Palestinians,” Israel’s Prime Minister said Sunday.

He stressed, however,  there are conditions - which include resuming negotiations without any pre conditions. “That means huge concessions on Israel’s part ahead of time,” he warned, adding, “ the accord must be accompanied by security agreements that will last for generations to come.”

Netanyahu’s statements concerning a possible Syrian peace agreement with Israel, come days after he ordered cabinet ministers to refrain from talking publicly on the Syria peace tract,.

Last week, rhetoric by Israeli ministers responding to recent comments made by Syria President Bashar Assad and Syria’s Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, reached an all time high, escalating tensions in the region.

Assad accused Israel of pushing the region towards war, and Mualem called on Israel to stop playing the role of thugs in the Middle East.

The comments invited a harsh response from Minister of Foreign Affairs Avigdor Lieberman who warned Assad if he continues provoking the region his regime will collapse.

Also Sunday, Netanyahu presented a proposal to limit dependence on oil countries who sponsor terror. Netanyahu said he raised the issue in meetings with world leaders including German Chancellor Angela Merckel, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and others.

The proposal will take some time to implement he said adding, it will take at least two to three years before the effects will be seen on the ground. “Within a decade we may reach a solution for example on the issue of dependence on oil transportation,” he said.
