
An Islamic committee in Jeddah called on the world to end Israel’s aggression on the Temple Mount, claiming Israel’s action threatens the entire region. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the violence that erupted Friday on the Temple Mount warning Israel’s actions will lead to a holy war. Scores of Israel Police and border police were injured Friday in clashes with Muslim worshippers who threw stones at Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall and Israeli security forces.
The Organization of the Islamic Conference that convened in Jeddah Saturday called for international intervention to end Israel’s aggression against Muslim worshippers on the Temple Mount.
The statement was in response to clashes that erupted Friday between Muslim stone throwers and Israeli security forces who entered the compound to restore calm after Muslims threw stones at security forces and Jewish worshippers at the Western Wall.
Scores of police and Arab rioters were injured in the clashes that subsided several hours later Friday afternoon.
Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas condemned the violence Friday and accused Israel of crossing “ all the red lines.” Abbas called on the United States to intervene and “stop Israel’s aggression,” claiming the situation will lead to a holy war that will have repercussions not only in the Middle East but the entire world.
On Saturday in Jeddah, Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, the secretary of the Islamic organization called for the world to act against Israel’s aggression, AFP said. He accused Israel of violating international law and called on the world “ to heed to the gravity of the Israeli violations that threaten the entire region.”
