Hamas terrorist Abdullah Barghouti currently serving 67 life sentences in an Israeli jail for orchestrating and manufacturing bombs used in deadly attacks against Israeli civilians, accused Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu of trying to sabotage the prisoner exchange to free kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit.
He warned the prisoner swap deal will not be carried out because Netanyahu does not want to do a deal.
Barghouti made the comments Sunday during a court hearing in Nazareth, to appeal the solitary confinement conditions he is being held in.
“The Shalit deal won’t be carried out because Netanayhu does not want a deal,” Barghouti, in fluent Hebrew, told reporters attending the hearing.
Barghouti claimed Netanyahu is too preoccupied with Kadima and is responsible for the delay in the swap being carried out. “I was the third name in the deal, Marwan Barghouti and Ahmad Saadat were before me. Hagai Hadas signed, and the German mediator signed, and when it reached Netanyahu he caved in,” Barghouti said.
Shalit's family slammed Barghouti's statements, declaring the terroris is not entitled to see the light of day. A statement released on behalf of the family said it is a shame that a terrorist responsible for the deaths of so many Israelis is permitted to speak with reporters in court. The statement
When asked to comment on Shalit and the conditions he is being held in, Barghouti said “I can tell his family that his condition is good. He has food, he has a room, we are not mistreating our prisoner.”
Israel should talk to Hamas he said vowing that if he was set free he would continue to fight Israel’s occupation. “As long as my land is occupied, I will fight, “ and then added “my land is all of Palestine.”

In 2004, he was sentenced to 67 life sentences.
