
With the prospect of a conflict on multiple fronts looming overhead, forcing Israel to face growing biological, chemical or nuclear threats, necessitates a constant state of readiness. On Sunday the cabinet will examine steps taken by the defense establishment to protect Israeli citizens.
The government will convene a special cabinet meeting Sunday, to examine the home front’s preparedness in times of emergency.
Heads of the defense and security establishment will present to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu a number of scenarios. including evacuating civilians living in threatened areas to safer zones, guiding those who do not have shelters near their homes to underground parking zones, and how to conduct a forced evacuation of thousands possibly to Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria.
In addition the government will receive an update on the distributing of the upgraded gas masks that began last week.
On Thursday ,Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Chief of General Staff Lt,. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi and Home Front Commander Maj Gen, Yair Golan held a number of discussions in preparation for Sunday’s meeting.
